Testosterone deficiency via self-abuse in all its “glory”.
Alcohol
Testosterone levels are seen to rise when alcohol is consumed in moderation, however, it falls dramatically when alcohol is consumed heavily. Given the association of Testosterone and mood, excess alcohol and domestic violence, a correlation between low levels of Testosterone and domestic violence as suggested by Soyer et al appears too logical to ignore.
Drugs
The use of Heroin and other opiates decrease levels of Testosterone in the blood.
There is no conclusive evidence insofar as is known regarding Cannabis use and its effect on Testosterone.
Tobacco has a detrimental affect on Testosterone levels
Cocaine has lowers Testosterone levels by shifting endocrine balance and activity from the testicles to the adrenal gland.
Ecstacy (MDMA), is sometimes mixed with Testosterone and sold on the streets
Amphetamines lower testosterone levels in the same way as Cocaine does.
Opinion. Drugs, Alcohol, Tobacco, the list goes on and on. Maybe it’s time we promoted the importance of endocrine balance to good health, happiness and longevity. Testosterone is important, we know that now. Rather than run and hide, why not turn this situation to advantage and promote awareness. Lay the facts out as they are and show the public how they are ruining their present and causing their own demise slowly, but surely, by persistently attacking Testosterone levels.
